I purchased your Biltong Mate after viewing S.J. Botha's video on Biltong Depot and how he made biltong bought from a grocery store as well as in the promotional photo you have to advertise it. The biltong he hung in the box was slabs that supposedly dried in 6 days. The biltong I hung in the box was closer to what Mr. Botha refers to as "sticks" but a little thicker. I eventually had to remove the drying biltong after a week and find another place to continue drying it. I think your fan is very inadequate to dry biltong and I am very disappointed in he Biltong Box It was placed on our counter in the kitchen. $200 is too much to pay for something that does not do what it's supposed to.
Thank you for your feedback, Denise.
After receiving your review, we contacted you directly to better understand the circumstances surrounding your batch. Based on our discussions, several aspects of the preparation method and setup differed from those shown in the Biltong Depot demonstration video, making it difficult to directly compare drying times.
Drying times can vary based on factors such as meat thickness, preparation method, cabinet loading, airflow, and humidity. Under typical conditions, drying times of more than a week for thinner cuts are not normally expected.
We appreciate the opportunity to discuss the issue with you and were pleased to hear that you chose to continue experimenting with the unit rather than return it. Should you decide to make another batch in the future, we're always happy to help!
